Musicians of Ma’alwyck
Free Preview Concert

Join the School of Music and the Musicians of Ma'alwyck for a free preview of their Celebrated Emblems performance. This multifaceted performance explores the concept of American emblems, or the symbols of American identity. Musicians of Ma’alwyck and guest artists will present contemporary works by Missy Mazzoli, James Lee III, William Jay Sydeman, and George Walker.
Musicians of Ma’alwyck is a flexible-size chamber ensemble in residence at the Schuyler Mansion New York State Historic Site and Schenectady County Community College. Founded in 1999 by violinist and director Ann-Marie Barker Schwartz, the group specializes in music performed in America during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Many of the performing materials are drawn from the Special Collections of the New York State Library.

Celebrated Emblems marks the first-ever collaboration between Musicians of Ma’alwyck and the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company. This multifaceted performance explores the concept of American emblems, or the symbols of American identity. Musicians of Ma’alwyck and guest artists will present contemporary works by Missy Mazzoli, James Lee III, William Jay Sydeman, and George Walker. Members of the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company will add a visual element.

Featuring internationally renowned trumpet soloist, Ashley Hall-Tighe. CRWE will also host twenty-five area high school students for our annual Side-by-Side concert. Music by Leonard Bernstein, Rebecca Ann Culp, Kimberly Archer, Anthony Iannaccone, Nicole Piunno, and John Barnes Chance.
