Keeping our College Community Safe
Under the leadership of the Director of Campus Safety, the Department of Campus Safety provides information and training pertaining to emergency preparedness and a wide range of safety and security issues. Our approach is to work collaboratively with local police departments, SUNY’s University Police, Student Wellness, other area colleges, and other segments of the community to create a safe environment where our students can obtain a quality education and our faculty and staff can work in a place where they are able to perform their best. Day to day security guard services is provided by Summit Security, a leading security services firm, with strict hiring and training standards. Use of advanced technology minimizes safety risks and ensures the prompt and fair resolution of any incidents, with minimal disruption to the learning environment.
Our security officers are trained in first aid, CPR and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and are responsible for:
- identifying and investigating violations of our Code of Conduct
- identifying and addressing on-campus safety and security hazards
- assisting local police departments by reporting criminal activity
Violations of our Code of Conduct are referred to our Vice President of Student Affairs. Violations of College rules may result in fines or other sanctions. Violations of the laws and ordinances of the State of New York, City of Schenectady or the City of Albany require the intervention of Schenectady or Albany authorities.
In compliance with the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the "Clery Act"), below are our Annual Security Reports.
