Qualifications to Register to Vote
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be 18 years old (you may pre-register at 16 or 17 but cannot vote until you are 18)
- be a resident of this state and the county, city or village for at least 30 days before the election
- not be in prison for a felony conviction
- not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court
- not claim the right to vote elsewhere

Application for New York State Voter Registration
You may register to vote using the New York State Voter Registration Form accessible at the links below. You can complete the PDF version of the form by clicking on the link below, typing the necessary information and selecting the appropriate boxes. Alternatively, you can print the form to complete by hand. Once the form is completed, you need to print and sign it. Digital or Adobe-generated signature are not accepted. Forms must then be mailed to your county board of elections. The address can be found on page two of the Voter Registration Form.

Application for New York State Absentee Ballot
Absentee voting (aka “mail-in voting” and “by-mail voting”) is conducted by mail-in ballot before the day of Election Day. All states will mail a ballot to voters if certain conditions are met.
